    Last month, I had the pleasure of attending the 2010 Alberta Provincial Wheelchair Curling Championships .  The 2010 Gold Medal winners were from Calgary and   Bridget Wilson  (Lead) is a Calgary Hays constituent living in Douglasdale.   Congratulations   to all the athletes involved.  I would also like to congratulate the members of the Alberta Rocks Wheelchair Curling Association for all your hard work in hosting this exciting sports event.  Curling is a thrilling sport that continues to grow here in Calgary and in Edmonton.  Your efforts have provided an excellent opportunity for our Alberta wheelchair players to compete at this level.

  • Province helps Calgary's homeless find permanent homes

    Alberta has taken another step towards implementing its 10-year plan to end homelessness.  The province is providing $6.2 million to the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF) for the purchase or development of 52 permanent homes for the homeless in Calgary.

  • Southwest Calgary ring road planning study gets underway

    The Alberta government and City of Calgary are beginning the planning work for the southwest Calgary ring road.A memorandum of understanding between the Alberta government and the City defines the planning study’s scope and sets out each party’s roles and responsibilities during the study phase. The memorandum also outlines items for future discussion and negotiation.

Art Johnston was elected to his second term as the Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Calgary-Hays on March 3, 2008, and on October 12, 2011 was appointed Parlimentry Assistant to Executive Council. Mr. Johnston is also a member of the Cabinet Policy Committee on Energy.
